Topic

  • Title of research:“Characterization and pharmaceutical formulation of chaperon molecules for rod opsin mutants” – as part of the project FAR 2022 MISSION ORIENTED_ Linea UNIMORE _”INTEGRATED IN SILICO IN VITRO AND IN VIVO APPROACHES TO DEVELOP THERAPEUTIC SMALL CHAPERONES FOR RETINITIS PIGMENTOSA LINKED TO DOMINANT ROD OPSIN MUTATIONS” (CUP E95F21003430001).
  • Aims of research: The study aims at characterizing in vitro and in vivo the chaperone activity of small molecules towards the P23H rod opsin mutant linked to autosomic dominant Retinite Pigmentosa (adRP). The small molecules sill derive from the chemical modification of the small chaperone 13-cis-5,8-epoxy-retinoic acid and from the virtual screening of commercially available compounds.
  • The study is part of the research project: “Computational tools to infer the structural determinants of conformational diseases and discover/design small chaperones with therapeutic potential” FAR2022 – UNIMORE – MISSION ORIENTED.
