Section containing job offers for positions at the nanomedicine community.

Dear ETPN members, dear colleagues, the Tissue Engineering Research Group and Advanced Materials and Bioengineering Research Centre (AMBER) at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) – an ETPN member institution – currently have an opening for a number of experienced postdoctoral researchers. These positions are focused on the development of a bioactive natural polymer based conduit for application in peripheral nerve repair. This project is being carried out in partnership with Integra LifeSciences, a world leading multi-national corporation with expertise in developing innovative solutions for nerve regeneration.

Job description & candidate profile

The postdoctoral researcher(s) will work closely with other members of a multidisciplinary project team including PIs, postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate students in addition to industry representatives within this research cluster.

Applicants will ideally have a primary degree in materials science, bioengineering or pharmaceutics with a PhD in the area of tissue engineering or regenerative medicine. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in the development of regenerative biomaterials, nanoparticle formulation, conjugation chemistry and ideally knowledge of nerve repair.

Specific skills that would enhance a candidate’s application for the position might include experience in some of the following areas: scaffolds in tissue engineering, biomaterial synthesis, drug or biomolecule delivery, cell culture (in particular the culture of primary cells of the peripheral nervous system), mechanical testing, advanced microscopy, PCR, immunohistochemistry and other histological and imaging techniques, in addition to experience in in vivo studies.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. An outstanding publication record and experience in reviewing journal articles would be advantageous.

Salary will be dependent on level of experience (IUA Researcher Salary Scales) and is available immediately.
