Dear ETPN members, dear colleagues from the European Nanomedicine community, we are glad to share with you today to nice opportunities of joining one of the leaders of the field SINTEF, which has just opened two research position as described below.
General information
SINTEF Industry is a research institute that delivers research-based solutions and services that create value for customers nationally and internationally. With our multidisciplinary knowledge base and advanced laboratories as a foundation, we – in close cooperation with our customers and partners – develop technology and interdisciplinary solutions within a wide range of market and specialist areas. We create technology for a better society!
The research group Polymer Particles and Surface Chemistry at the Dept. Biotechnology and Nanomedicine is growing and we are seeking a skilled and motivated researcher, who has expertise in and genuine interest in the field of (1) polymeric membranes, including polymer synthesis and modification, for use in applied research and (2) organic and polymer synthesis and modification. Newly graduated are welcome to apply.
The research group is based in Trondheim and we have 19 highly qualified employees with cutting-edge competence in organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, polymerization technology, particle technology, membrane production, and surface modification of polymers. We conduct research within synthesis and chemical modification of polymers and particles towards a wide range of applications in nanomedicine, medical technology, bioseparation, food and feed, batteries, fuel cells, gas purification, coatings, oil and gas extraction. We have laboratories for synthesis work, including a special laboratory for sterile work and work with pharmaceuticals.
We work closely together with the other groups in the Department of Biotechnology and Nanomedicine to develop solutions for our customers through research and innovation in biopharmaceuticals, medical technology, nanomedicine, human health, biopolymers and biomaterials, circular economy/biorefining, aquaculture and fish health. Our 90 employees have specialist expertise in these areas, and the department has state-of-the-art laboratories. We lead and participate in large international projects, and develop products and processes for a number of industrial customers. All projects are carried out in close collaboration with customers and academic groups nationally and internationally.
Position #1: Researcher within polymer membranes
Typical tasks
You will contribute to several of the group’s projects within membrane technology, which focus on polymeric membranes for use in gas separation, water purification, batteries and fuel cells. We expect that the researcher will develop own ideas and lead research activities, thus contributing to growth in the group and to achieving SINTEF’s ambitious goal of developing technology for a better society.
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in polymeric membranes, polymer synthesis, modification and functionalization of synthetic polymers and biopolymers or related disciplines.
- Expertise in polymer-based membranes for applications in CO2 capture, batteries and fuel cells.
- Interest in and experience with scientific publishing and dissemination.
- Very good presentation skills, written and spoken, in English and, preferably, in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language. We offer Norwegian courses for employees who do not speak Norwegian and expect our colleagues to be willing to learn Norwegian.
Position #2: Researcher within organic and/or polymer chemistry
Typical tasks
You will contribute to several of the group’s projects within nanomedicine, formulation of drugs, medical technology – and preferably other areas like batteries and degradable polymers. We expect that the researcher will develop own ideas and lead research activities, thus contributing to growth in the group and to achieving SINTEF’s ambitious goal of developing technology for a better society.
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, polymer synthesis, modification and functionalization of synthetic polymers and biopolymers, biodegradable polymers, emulsions, hydrogels, nano- and microencapsulation, surface and colloid chemistry or related disciplines.
- Interest in and experience with scientific publishing and dissemination.
- Experience with in vivo experiments or a willingness to carry out certification for this after employment is an advantage.
- Very good presentation skills, written and spoken, in English and, preferably, in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language. We offer Norwegian courses for employees who do not speak Norwegian and expect our colleagues to be willing to learn Norwegian.
